Test your line

Run a quick speed test from your device. Use a wired connection where possible for the most accurate reading.

Tip: results from Wi-Fi are limited by your router and device, not always your line.

Try these first

Quick troubleshooting.

Power cycle your kit

Switch off the router and PoE injector for 60 seconds, then power them back on. Wait 2 minutes for the link to come up.

Check the cabling

Make sure all RJ45 cables are clicked in fully — especially the cable from the PoE injector to the antenna.

Test on Ethernet

Plug a laptop directly into the router. If wired works but Wi-Fi doesn’t, the issue is local Wi-Fi rather than the line.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

What is the difference between wireless and fibre internet?
Fibre runs as a physical optical cable into your premises. Wireless uses a high-frequency point-to-point microwave link from one of our towers to a small antenna on your roof. Both deliver uncapped, unshaped service — wireless is typically faster to install and reaches areas where fibre is not yet trenched.
Are your packages truly uncapped and unshaped?
Yes. AETHERNET does not throttle protocols, shape traffic by application, or impose hidden daily caps. A reasonable Fair Use Policy applies to protect the network against abuse, and is published on request.
How long does installation take?
Wireless installations are usually scheduled within 3–7 working days of a successful line-of-sight survey. Fibre installations depend on the underlying infrastructure provider, typically 7–14 working days.
Do you offer VoIP?
Yes. We provide hosted VoIP extensions, SIP trunks and number porting, with optional handsets. VoIP runs best on our own network thanks to local routing and low latency.
Can I keep my number when porting to AETHERNET VoIP?
In most cases yes. We handle the porting paperwork with your current provider and switch you over with minimal downtime.
What about load shedding?
Our core network and towers run on backup power. For uninterrupted service at your premises we recommend a small UPS on the router and PoE injector — we can advise on suitable kit.
Are you ICASA licensed?
Yes. AETHERNET holds the relevant ICASA Individual Electronic Communications Network Services (I-ECNS) and Electronic Communications Services (I-ECS) licences.
How do I cancel?
Most home packages are month-to-month. Give us one calendar month’s written notice and we’ll arrange uninstallation of any leased equipment.
